Now, he is world class - are you?

Do you work for a 'world class' organisation?

MK was recently invited to an exciting event called 'Leadership in World Class Manufacturing'.The blurb promised us that for just £200 (+ vat) we could achieve our "world class ambitions... plan for world class status" and find out about "leadership and the world class organisation".

But we won't be attending, notwithstanding the fact that we don't work in world class manufacturing, and here's why.

A Google search for 'world class' and our home county 'Yorkshire' reveals 443,000 pages. We've got 'world class' coming out of our ears. There are world class: businesses, business leaders, business parks, business intelligence, business solutions, business support services, business schools; not to mention continuity, practices, regeneration strategies, study centres, shopping centres, universities, cities, manufacturing and of course, PR agencies.

There are only two possible explanations. Either that we are , contrary to the opinion of every financial forecaster in Christendom, actually living through an economic Golden Age, surrounded by business geniuses in the world's greatest economic hot spot, or alternatively that every day thousands of press releases are being issued by organisations who describe themselves as "world class".

Perhaps you are one of them. Perhaps that's why you're here. And if it is then rest assured we can help you.

Superlatives like "world class", "market leading" and the rest, pepper many a company announcement, but they are ultimately empty statements. They provide no benchmark, and consequently people don't believe them, because they don't know what they stand for.

At MK, we believe that the key to successful business is not about being "world class" but actually about being different and about being heard.

We can help to make your organisation famous for being different and we can make sure that people who need to, listen to you.

That's why MK doesn't promote 'world class' organisations.
