Surriya Falconer
For the record Surriya, would like it known that she has never done anything else but PR. Not for her the wavering career path of woolly minded. She says if she’s learned one thing over the past twenty hmm years it's this: PR is a profession that requires an open attitude and rarely gives you time to sleep on it.
We think she’s also learned to be quite good on the phone.
Surriya’s CV is the envy of us all. She’s done just about everything you can do in PR representing (among others) Weight Watchers, Harvey Nichols, Sheffield Theatres, Birmingham City FC, Smith and Nephew, Travis Perkins, Campbell’s, Chrysalis, GMG Radio, Hammerson, Business Link South Yorkshire, Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust, First, Sanatogen Vitamins, Simple Skincare, Lillets and Sport Newspaper Group.
Surriya started work for an agency based in Covent Garden in the early 1980’s representing beauty, fashion and health accounts. Consequently she was immersed in the culture of the time complete with shoulder pads, big earrings and long liquid lunches. She believes PR was less complicated then, but that could have been the white wine spritzers.
She was lured to Sheffield in the mid 1990s to head up the PR division of advertising agency Paradigm, which she grew into the biggest PR agency in South Yorkshire. After winning a stack of awards she became a Board Director of Paradigm Network.
After a lengthy sabbatical, she was tempted back into business with MK and became a partner in 2005. Since she joined it’s fair to say we’ve never looked back.
She thinks life is a serious business but not worth it without significant others and a lot of laughs.
She is a member of the Chartered Institute of PR (obviously) and the Chartered Institute of Professional Development. She is also a School Governor and Vice Chair of Yorkshire ArtSpace.
