Steve McKevitt

Before founding MK in 2003, Steve spent several years in senior management with companies in the entertainment, video games and media sectors.

After graduating in 1988 with a degree in Politics, he worked as a journalist, left to work in the music industry, spent a brief period of time working in Threshers, went back to writing again, and in 1993 gathered this experience together and embarked upon a career in PR. Since then he's been fortunate to work for companies such as Gremlin, Atari, ZOO, Motorola, NTL, Future Publishing, AOL, Pepsi and BT.

Steve is an acclaimed author (i.e. not bestselling). His latest book Why The World Is Full of Useless things was described as, "A must have for Christmas 2007" by The Guardian, a mere 13 months after it was first published.

On the back of his first book City Slackers - which identifies "the real challenge facing modern-day British Business" according to The Daily Telegraph - he was asked to speak at the annual conference of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He declined on the basis that - and Steve really doesn't want to make a big thing about this - the bloke who contacted him said the audience was likely to be "a bit unsympathetic" given his Northern HQ and, as a father of three, Steve didn't feel need to travel 150 miles to be heckled.

His work appears regularly in several publications including The Guardian, IoD Magazine and Management Issues. He is also a contact for BBC Radio Five Live and World Service and writes "On Second Thoughts" a monthly column for Business Insider magazine.

Steve is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and a non-executive director of Creative Sheffield and The Designers Republic. He loves London, but doesn't want to live there.
